The Military and Veterans Social Work Certificate offers coursework designed to develop knowledge and skills for work in settings serving military, veterans, and their families. There are complex needs and issues facing military personnel, veterans and families, including mental health issues, substance use issues, the effects of chronic and acute trauma experiences, as well as managing the reintegration from active duty to civilian life. Topics and course content focused on specific areas such as substance misuse, mental health, stress and coping, resilience, wellness, and advocacy are part of preparing students to serve military personnel, veterans and families.

Admission Requirements
Admission to the Military and Veterans Social Work certificate program requires - an earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college;
- an acceptable grade point average in all college work taken.
Application Procedures
All application materials are to be submitted to the College of Graduate Studies. Applicant must - submit application with the appropriate application fee (online at http://mtsu.edu/graduate/apply). Once this initial application has been accepted, the applicant will receive directions on how to enter the graduate portal to be able to submit other materials.

Certificate Requirements
Candidates must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in courses leading to the certificate. Curriculum: Military and Veterans Social Work
