The major in Special Education requires 120 semester hours, including courses that satisfy the True Blue Core requirements. It is designed to prepare teachers in special education and other related fields (i.e., behavior therapy, non-profit organizations supporting youth with disabilities), and leads to initial licensure in either Special Education Intervention K-8 or 6-12, or Special Comprehensive K-12.
NOTE: A grade of C (2.0) or higher is required for all major courses; a grade of B- or better in EESE 2010 and EESE 2011 is required to apply for admission to the Teacher Education Program.

True Blue Core (TBC) requirements (shown in curricular listings below) include courses in the Foundational Skills areas of Written Communication (WC), Information Literacy (Info Lit), Non-Written Communication (NWC), and Quantitative Literacy (Quant Lit). Knowledge Domains include Human Society and Social Relationships (HSSR), Scientific Literacy (Sci Lit), Creativity and Cultural Expression (CCE), and History and Civic Learning (HCL), which include Discovery and Explorations categories. Students must choose at least one course from each Discovery category. Major Requirements (77 hours)
