College of Basic and Applied Sciences

The Pre-Health Information Management program (below) is specifically recommended for students interested in the entry level master’s degree at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis. This is a prerequisite program only, which means that students do not earn a bachelor’s degree from MTSU. Completion of this program at MTSU does not guarantee acceptance into the master’s program at UTHSC. Students in this program will be responsible for adhering to application procedures and deadlines should they wish to enroll in the program at UTHSC.

Curriculum: Science, Health Science, Pre-Health Information Management


To gain the best first-hand knowledge about health information management, you should contact health information managers (medical record administrators), visit facilities, and talk to them directly. Working in an office of health information management on a paid or volunteer basis is recommended.

Curricular listings include General Education  requirements in Communication, History, Humanities and/or Fine Arts, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Social/Behavioral Sciences categories.
