A major in History with teacher licensure consists of 39 semester hours (13 courses): five lower-division courses: HIST 1110 *, HIST 1120  *, HIST 2010  *, HIST 2020  *, and HIST 2030  ; and eight upper-division courses. Of the eight upper-division History courses, one must be HIST 3010  (Historian’s Craft) or HIST 3011  (Teaching Historical Thinking) (HIST 3011   preferred for licensure students). Two must be selected from each of the following areas: global, European, and U.S.; and the remaining course may be any upper-division History course. Students must also fulfill all the other requirements for the B.S. degree (see Academic Policies and Procedures ) to include a minor. Students must meet additional teacher licensure requirements and the Secondary Education Minor  requirements. History majors are to see their departmental advisors at least once per semester.
