Department of Elementary and Special Education
The major in Interdisciplinary Studies, grades 4-8, is designed to prepare teachers for elementary schools. It requires General Education, major and highly qualified area, professional education, and enhanced student teaching courses.

General Education Requirements (41 hours)
Curricular listings include General Education requirements in Communication, History, Humanities and/or Fine Arts, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Social/Behavioral Sciences categories. Interdisciplinary Studies Major Requirements
Grades 4-8 Level Required Courses (27–34 hours)
NOTE:
If the highly qualified area is Social Studies, add a 4-hour elective. If the highly qualified area is Science, BIOL 3000 and PSCI 4030 are both taken plus a 4-hour elective.
English/Language Arts Highly Qualified Area (15 hours)
Mathematics Highly Qualified Area (15 hours)
Science Highly Qualified Area (8 hours)
Social Studies Highly Qualified Area (12 hours)
Grades 4–8 level (25 hours)
