The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies offers courses in both disciplines. Courses in philosophy are intended to acquaint students with philosophical methods, systems, and problems, as well as supply a philosophical background for graduate study in philosophy or related areas. Courses in religious studies are intended to acquaint students with the methods and theories necessary to study religious practices, beliefs, and identities in a systematic way.
Programs in the department lead to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Philosophy and Religious Studies. Minors are offered in Philosophy and Religious Studies. The department also coordinates the American Culture interdisciplinary minor.
Honors College
PHIL 1030 and RS 2030 and RS 3020 are offered periodically.
