Courses in the Department of Communication Studies offer students the skills employers are looking for in graduates. They are designed to engage students in the discipline, sharpen critical thinking, create and evaluate messages, and understand differences in our global society.

The department offers a B.A. and B.S. in Communication with concentrations in Culture and Social Influence, Health Communication, and Organizational Communication.

A minor in Communication is also available.

MTSU Debate Program

The Communication Studies Department supports, directs, and staffs the MTSU Debate Program. MTSU Debate program provides active intercollegiate competitive opportunities and is open to all MTSU undergraduate students in good academic standing.

Honors College

The department offers Honors classes in COMM 2200.

Lambda Pi Eta

The department participates in Lamba Pi Eta, the National Communication Association’s official honor society at four-year colleges and universities.

Graduate Study

Courses in communication studies may be taken for graduate credit. The Graduate Catalog has details and course listings.
