Courses in the Department of Communication Studies and Organizational Communication are designed to meet the General Education needs of all students; to develop a wide range of skills to promote effective communication; and to prepare students for careers in both corporate and nonprofit organizations.
The department offers a major in Organizational Communication with a concentration in Communication Studies. Communication Studies and Organizational Communication is also the home department for in interdisciplinary major in Organizational Communication. (See Interdisciplinary Majors and Minors for information.) Departmental programs lead to a Bachelor of Science degree.
Minors in Communication Studies and Organizational Communication are available. The department also participates in the Leadership Studies interdisciplinary minors. (See Interdisciplinary Majors and Minors for information.)
The Communication Studies and Organizational Communication Department supports, directs, and staffs the MTSU Debate Program. MTSU Debate program provides active intercollegiate competitive opportunities and is open to all undergraduate students in good academic standing.
The Communication Studies and Organizational Communication Department offers Honors classes in COMM 2200 .
