CSCI 7400 - Cloud Computing for Data Analysis3 credit hours Prerequisite: CSCI 3110 with grade of C or better. Familiarity with Java, Python, C++, Unix, good programming skills, and a solid mathematical background recommended. Introduces the basic principles of cloud computing for massive data applications. Focuses on parallel and/or distributed computing using frameworks like Hadoop and Apache Spark for massive data applications in the areas of web search, information retrieval, and machine learning. Students read and present research papers on these topics, implement programming assignments and projects to get hands-on experience with the cloud computing frameworks for data analysis.
