FERM 5560 - Applied Fermentation: Biomass and Biofuels3 credit hours Prerequisites: FERM 1000, CHEM 2030/2031 or CHEM 3010/301,1 and CHEM 3530/3531 or permission of instructor. Survey of fermentation as a means of bioenergy production, downstream processing to purify bioenergy, the range of biofuels produced by various biomass (e.g. grains, algae, and renewable sources) and mathematical evaluation of product recovery and energy balance.
