4 credit hoursPrerequisite: JOUR 2710. Theory and practice of basic journalistic skills, including the gathering, evaluating, and processing of news copy for newspapers. Classwork will be submitted to student or local newspapers. Hands-on instruction acquaints journalism students with the technology and techniques used in multiplatform media convergence and establishes a base for more advanced reporting, writing, and editing courses. Three hours lecture and one two-hour laboratory.
