The major in Leisure, Sport, and Tourism Studies (LSTS) requires 64 hours and provides knowledge, skills, and experiences for students interested in preparing for positions in the leisure, sport, and tourism services professions. The major requires a general core accredited by NRPA. Specializations in LSTS include sport management, outdoor recreation, and recreation administration. A minor or advised electives of approximately 15 credit hours may also be chosen.
High achieving students majoring in Leisure, Sport, and Tourism Studies who intend to pursue a master’s degree in Leisure and Sport Management may apply to participate in the Accelerated Bachelors/Masters (ABM) Program. The program allows undergraduate students an opportunity to complete the requirements for both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a compressed time frame. Participating undergraduate students may count up to 12 graduate credit hours toward both degrees and obtain a non-thesis master’s degree in the same field within 12 months of completing the bachelor’s degree or obtain a thesis-based master’s degree in the same field within 18 months of completing the bachelor’s degree.
